Mrs. Samantha Jacobs
Mrs. Jacobs is starting her twenty-fourth year as a teacher, mainly teaching language arts and social studies over the years. She has been teaching in Norwood for the past ten years, not only as the high school English teacher, but also teaching reading, journalism, drama and civics at times as well. Mrs. Jacobs teaches all the middle school social studies classes plus United States History and English I and high school reading.
Mrs. Jacobs grew up in Ohio and has lived in Montana and northeastern Colorado before moving here to be closer to her husband’s side of the family. She earned her BA in history from Ohio Wesleyan University (cum laude) and has since added many classes from many colleges to her education including classes in English, art, and gifted education. She is working on her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Adams State University. Her first classroom was in her hometown where she taught 7th grade Language Arts, 7th and 8th grade Home Economics and 6th grade Health. She next taught English and history in a rural high school in Montana for three years. When she moved to Colorado in 2004, she taught 6th through 12th grade social studies and art in a very rural school on the north-eastern plains.
Mrs. Jacobs has five children. She has served as a board member of the Norwood Youth Baseball program and has been a troop leader in Girl Scouts, a foster parent, and library board member. When she isn’t busy shuttling her children from sports, art, and theater activities, Mrs. Jacobs enjoys genealogy, writing, reading, and creating art projects like painting, photography, and basket-weaving (not under water).
