Norwood School District Nondiscrimination Statement
The Norwood School District R2-JT is committed to providing a safe learning and work environment where all members of the school community are treated with dignity and respect. The schools in the district are subject to all federal and state laws and constitutional provisions prohibiting discrimination on the basis of disability, race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, ancestry or need for special education services. Accordingly, no otherwise qualified student, employee, applicant for employment or member of the public shall be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to unlawful discrimination under any district program or activity on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, creed, religion, sex (which includes marital status), sexual orientation, disability or need for special education services. Discrimination against employees and applicants for employment based on age and genetic information is also prohibited in accordance with state and/or federal law.

Complaint Procedures
Students and parents/guardians (on student’s behalf) may file a complaint. Complaints must be filed in writing and turned in to the Title IX Coordinator. All staff are required to forward received complaints to the Title IX Coordinator. The district strictly prohibits retaliation against anyone who files a complaint or participates in an investigation.

Staff Training
The Title IX Coordinator has completed the following training: K-12 Title IX Coordinator & Administrator One: Foundations training & certification course in March 2023.
All staff will receive the following training:
Title IX: Protecting Students and School Employees from Sexual Harassment (General Awareness) including custom nondiscrimination policy including sexual violence and Title IX coordinator information within course - Every 5 years and new hires
Discriminatory Harassment – Identification and Response including custom nondiscrimination policy including sexual violence and Title IX coordinator information within course -Every two years & new hires
