Rudback, Alex
Alex Rudbäck
Patrick (Alex) Rudbäck was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil to a Russian mother and Swedish father. His upbringing has resulted in his speaking Russian, Portuguese, and English. He left Brazil at the age of 6 and moved to New York City and Long Island with his Russian mother and Russian grandparents who raised him. Alex attended Russian Orthodox church, Russian school every Saturday, and Russian scout camp every summer in the Adirondack Mountains in New York. Alex was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America.
Scouting and Russian camp imbued him with a great love and appreciation for the wilderness and outdoor recreation, which inspired him in 2008 to finally leave Long Island and move to Colorado.
Some of Alex's favorite outdoor activities include hiking and backpacking, snowboarding, extended river trips and whitewater paddling, mt. biking, tennis and motorcycle touring. In the summer 2022, Alex led his Swedish cousins on a climb of Sweden's tallest mountain in the Arctic Circle.
Alex loves to travel to foreign countries, but favors going to Sweden and Brazil to visit family and friends. For indoor activities, Alex loves to practice his guitar and uke, jam with friends, read books and make entries in his journal when inspired.
Alex has a BA in English from the University of Toronto, in Ontario, Canada and a Masters of Science in Education from Canisius College, in NY. He has been a career English teacher since 1997. He worked in both public and private schools and has taught in Ontario, Long Island, NY, Boulder, Denver, and Telluride. And now he is very pleased and excited to be teaching English for the Norwood School District community. Alex lives in Placerville with his partner Madeline and their two cats, Chelsea and Glover.
